Water Features Are a Great Addition to Your Pool!

Customized water features add an element of class and elegance to your backyard pool. People considering putting in a pool should also think about their installation options now, to avoid time and expense later. Seriously consider, along with other design features, whether or not you wish to include some sort of a water feature in your pool, something extra that adds to the overall look and feel of your pool.

Benefits of Water Features
Water features either add a classy touch, or make pool-goers feel a little closer to nature, depending on the style you choose. Sharply cut lines and built-in fountains create an elegant feel that enhances the overall effect of the pool, while rock features and more realistic-looking waterfalls allow guests to feel like they are in an outdoor oasis. The soothing sound of running water turns any backyard into a place where pool owners can go to relax and unwind.

Water features also add a very functional aspect to a backyard pool. The pumps used will help circulate and clean the water. It will also trap debris if the right pump and equipment is used, making cleaning the pool is a little bit easier.

Types of Water Features
Water features come in all shapes and sizes, and, usually, if you can imagine it, then it can be built. Water features are generally added on during a renovation or remodel, or built in as you are constructing your new pool renovations. Some of the most common types of water features include:

Waterfalls. Waterfalls vary by the type of water flow they provide. For example, pool owners can create a sheer curtain of water, falls that sounds like rain, arced waterfalls that flow up and then back down, and arced rain waterfalls. The flow can be adjusted so that water sheets down or just trickles. The water can fall over virtually anything, from an elegant brick or concrete wall to pillars high above the water.
Rock waterfalls. If you want a more natural look for your pool, a rock waterfall is a great addition. While natural rocks are, of course, used; the budget conscious can take advantage of realistic synthetic rocks. They're made from lightweight material and can be arranged in a variety of shapes and positions. The position of the rocks influence the sound that the flowing water will make. Flow can also be adjusted to fit your needs.
Fountains. Fountains are more than just made from concrete, although that is also an option. They can be sculptural, nearly hidden, or something between. They can be a simple pump in the center of the pool or an arc of water that enters the pool from the side. Most fountains should be included in the pool build, otherwise a major remodel may be required. Spouts and spillways provide great water sounds, too.

Slides, hot tubs, and jacuzzis all make great additions as well; the installation process may be more complex. For more information about adding a water feature, visit The Pool Doctor of the Palm Beaches at http://www.poolspalmbeaches.com/.
